College is the perfect time to experience new things. As a student, you will discover your personal interests and learn what you truly enjoy doing. It’s easy to let this time in your life fly by, so don’t miss out on all of the fun things you can do. Use your time at UW-Manitowoc to knock these five items off your college bucket list.

1. Explore Silver Creek Park

Take your next study break at Silver Creek Park. Located only half a mile from campus, this park includes a disc golfing course with 27 holes! Each hole accommodates various skill levels, so beginners don’t hesitate. Disc golf not your thing? No worries—there are plenty of other recreational activities at Silver Creek Park including hiking trails, soccer fields and a beach.

2. Get Some Fresh Air at Henry Schuette Park

Looking for a place to go on a beautiful day? Visit Henry Schuette Park. With over 65 acres, this park is comprised of hiking trails, a view of the Manitowoc River, fishing areas and much more. Pack a picnic and enjoy it in one of their open-air shelters. Looking for some wintertime fun? Cross-country ski on their trails when the snow falls.

3. Take a Lake Michigan Maritime Tour

Enjoy the beautiful waters and views of Lake Michigan from the comfort of a boat. Admire the shoreline anytime of the year whether it be the blooms of spring or the vibrant colors of autumn. Some tours offer wine tasting (21+ only) while at on-shore stops, while others are charter boats for some serious fishing. No matter which tour you choose, you are sure to have a wonderful time.

4. Shop Local at the Farmers’ Market

During the warmer months, the City of Manitowoc hosts a Farmers’ Market every Tuesday & Saturday. With over 70 vendors, you’ll find fresh produce, flowers, fresh cut meats, dairy and bakery items. You will also find an array of handmade items from local artisans. Definitely come with an empty stomach since there is plenty to sample!

5. Discover Downtown Manitowoc

Looking for something fun to do this weekend? Take a trip to downtown Manitowoc. You will find candy shops, restaurants, locally owned boutiques and coastline tours. There’s always different events going on as well such as Small Business Saturday. Become a part of the Manitowoc community, and be sure to bring some friends!

These five activities are a great start for any UW-Manitowoc student interested in making the most of their time in college.
