This award was established in 2017 to honor and recognize UW-Manitowoc alumni who have attained notable achievement in their professional career, demonstrated philanthropic or public service activity in support of the community or provided inspiration to others.
R. T. “Skip” Wallen, the sculptor of the Spirit of the Rivers monument, and Diane Scheurell, author and blogger of “Manifesting Paradise,” were named as the first two recipients.
Nominations must be submitted online by Friday, March 2.
Nominees must have attended UW-Manitowoc for at least two semesters dating back as far as when it was known as UW-Extension, the Center and UW-Manitowoc. Individuals may also self-nominate.
Created in partnership with the UW-Manitowoc Foundation, the Distinguished Alumni Award will be presented at the Scholarship and Awards Luncheon on May 4. The recipients of the award will be honored with a special memento and will have their name engraved on a prominently-displayed perpetual plaque.
